Ferb

What is cuter than a fluffy kitten?

Ferb certainly qualifies. She is a busy young lady, about 11 weeks of age now. She has a brother, Phinaeus, to play with also - he's a brown tabby with medium to long hair, just like she has.

Ferb is very playful, very busy and does not yet have much time for cuddling and laps. Because of her long hair she will need an owner who will regularly brush and comb her (at least 3 times a week or for a couple minutes every day) so she is used to that process. Once her full coat comes in, she will undoubtedly need help with maintaining and keeping matts at bay.

She has been fostered in a home with a young elementary age child and has been picked up and held often. She does not like to be carried around, however, and has lots of opinions of her own! It seems she has her own play and toy agenda well thought out and doesn't want you to mess with her schedule!

Delightful to watch, fun to enjoy, a young girl who will develop into more of a lap cat with your gentle encouragement.

Interested? You can find an adoption application here and submit it online.

Cats who love children

We have several cats who are very good with children. They like the activity level and even seem to enjoy or tolerate being carried and lugged around!

Dirks is a handsome guy. A light orange with very nice gold eyes. He's playful and lots of fun. He has been fostered with a small dog and with another milder mannered cat he is fine also.

Sylvie is another cat, a girl this time, who likes having children around and is energized by them. She's very playful on her own and enjoys naps in sunny windows but she loves to have the two neighborhood boys come visiting and they enjoy playing with her also. The boys are in early elementary school.

Amber loves activity too - she is especially fond of men and is a playful girl - again with those striking gold eyes. With or without another cat. If someone worked from home or if you home school, she'd love that too.

Amber is at the Chuck and Don's in Highland for a week or so. Stop by and visit her!

Cat Adoption, Sunday, 9/18, 1-3 p.m.

Come and enjoy - lots of cats and kittens available for adoption. PetCo Richfield at 66th and Lyndale Ave. S.

Looking for?

A lap cat

A loopy, zany, playful goof-ball?

A more independent cat?

Short hair? Medium hair? Long hair?

We have choices!

Amber - cute and playful. She's fine with another cat but loves men and hopes to be adopted into a family with a cat-loving man and, if you work from home part-time? That would be even better!

Shadow - also gets along with another cat-liking cat. She's willing to groom another cat and is beginning to be a lap girl in her foster home. She certainly knows what sleeping on the bed is all about! Front paw declawed.

Ellie - also playful and comes for some attention. She is a medium haired dilute torti and is beginning to grow in a full coat now that she is getting regular nutrition. She will need some regular combing of her coat to manage the amount of hair she's going to have. OK with another cat and respectful dog but we think she'd enjoy life as a princess even more.

Scamper - orange tabby with white

Miles - black, medium hair

These boys are fostered together and are very playful. They get along with another cat and do not have to be adopted together.

Scamper is shyer and will take some pursuing. Both come for some lap time. Miles would prefer not to have a dog in the house but he lives with 2 dogs in his foster home.

Hudson - cute and clever. He's all about games, hiding his toys and finding them. Will you throw one for him? Even better~

Pet Haven's Fall Benefit is coming soon. Purchase tickets, come and enjoy! Dinner, style show, silent auction. Find out what Pet Haven has been doing in the last year besides re homing cats and dogs! Hope to see you there, too.

This week

Ellie Mae is at the Chuck and Don's in Highland. Stop by and visit with this pretty girl! Our picture doesn't do her justice as you can see.

She's a medium hair dilute tortieshell and she will need some help keeping her coat in good order. Now that she is getting regular meals and good nutrition she is developing a full coat. Her tail is already plush and brush like.

Ellie could live with another cat or a respectful dog but her low level grumbling at the other cats in her foster home seems to indicate she would enjoy being an only girl too. She's playful and comes for attention too. And, she's generally a talkative young lady!

Amber was recently returned to Pet Haven when she didn't fit into the needs of the new owner very well. She LOVES men! In her foster home the husband is retired so around and in and out during the day and she follows him everywhere in the house.

Amber gets along with another cat but we think she'd love to have someone to live with, a guy included, who works from home at least some of the time. We often hear that "oh, cats don't care about you, they just do their own thing". That's not Amber!

Amber wants people around more of the time than not, so if you have a busy work life and are gone from home 10-12 hours a day or more then she'll probably be happier elsewhere.

Adoption Sun. Sept. 11, 1-3 p.m.

Lots of lovely cats and kittens available for adoption!

It's a stressful time - we are all saddened as we remember the events of 10 yrs. ago, emotions come roiling to the surface as we hear of families who lost family or loved ones, when we see the images on television.

The economy is in turmoil as are retirement plans.

We'd encourage you to think of adopting - having an animal companion that you can watch, enjoy, play with and pet and brush have a calming influence on our lives. Studies have been done that show our loved companion animals benefit our health. Of course, if your finances are stressed to the point that you can't care for a cat or dog, then you can't adopt yet. Perhaps you can consider fostering for 6 months to a year.

Come and enjoy!

Shadow - curious and cute, gray tabby female, front declawed -

Scamper - a little shy at first, very playful, fine with another cat or kitten to play with -

Star has grown a little since this picture was taken - loves a good cuddle at night, great with another young cat or kitten to play with -

Miles - a medium haired black fellow - playful, housemate of Scamper -

Tinker - loves to play, loves to lounge, loves attention -

And many others - Hudson, Wilma, Amber, Lily, Cheveyo, Ellie Mae, Gypsy, Java -

Subsidzed Spay and Neuter for cats Sept. 23rd, 2011

Many individuals and families during this time of economic downturn are unable to get their cats spayed or neutered.

The community has an opportunity to provide a subsidized day of free spay and neuter as long as you income qualify for KindestCutMN.com's usual income restrictions.

Please tell everyone you know - get the word out to all your neighbors, friends and co workers so we can prevent more litters and thus decrease the numbers of homeless cats.

Add this to your facebook page, print out the information and post it in laundromats and apartment buildings - we want to fill ALL the surgery slots for the day!

Your help is needed NOW!

Feline Fix

One-day only subsidized spay/neuter surgeries available

In an effort to reduce unwanted litters, MnPAW (Minnesota Partnership for Animal Welfare) is offering a one-day special event called the “Feline Fix.”

Feline Fix is an opportunity to provide affordable spay/neuter services to cats owned by the public. That’s why two special events are taking place on September 23rd; one in the Twin Ports area and the other in the Twin Cities offering cat owners an opportunity to have their felines “fixed” at greatly reduced fees. Cat owners interested in participating in Feline Fix can choose from two locations.
